Patent Attorney in St. George

Daniel Hopkinson - Registered Patent Attorney

Picture
For almost 15 years now, I have been writing provisional and utility patent applications.  The majority of my practice focuses on computer hardware and software, although I have experience preparing patent applications for everything from dog brushes, to complex mechanical systems like off-road suspensions and automatic clutches.

I received a degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Utah.  My area of study was semiconductors.  Along the way, I took almost 30 hours of graduate level Electrical Engineering classes, and enough Chemistry and Physics to receive Minors in Chemistry and Physics.  I also have a background in designing, implementing, and supporting computer networks and IP-based telecom systems.
I studied law at the Creighton School of Law.  I am a member of  both the Utah Bar and the United States Patent and Trademark Office Bar.

Over a decade ago, I began writing patent applications as a technical consultant for the Kunzler Law Group, a regional patent law firm based in Salt Lake City.  After law school, I worked for Lowenstein Sandler, a large firm based in the New York City area with offices in Manhattan, New Jersey, and Palo Alto.  I was part of the technology group in Palo Alto.  I now work at Wilson Ham & Holman, a patent law firm with offices in Silicon Valley and Utah.  At each stop I have gained valuable training from some of the brightest people I've had the pleasure of meeting.

I have extensive experience in all aspects of patent procurement including domestic and international patent application prosecution.  I have experience helping both the individual inventor and the startup company take an idea, procure a patent on the idea, and then monetize the patent.  Please contact me if you would like to schedule a free consultation.  I can be reached by email, phone, or click on the chat now box.
